Welcome to the exciting and emerging specialised field of Forensic Psychophysiology and the Official website of the Forensic Polygraph Association of Australia (FPAA). We at the FPAA welcome all members of the public who may have an interest in the development of the Polygraph Profession. In particular this association will be of interest to persons in government, the corporate sector, law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
The FPAA is in the business of enhancing the public interest and will serve as a forum for persons who wish to learn more about the specialised skill of a Certified Forensic Polygraph Examiner and as a means of fulfilment for those who seek the assistance of a Certified Forensic Polygraph Examiner. The FPAA is Australia's largest Forensic Polygraph Association. The association actively encourages professional Forensic Psychophysiologist (polygraph examiners) and persons involved in the detection of deception, to join our ever-increasing Australian and International membership.
The Polygraph is one of the most reliable scientific methods available to determine deception or truth. In the hands of a trained examiner, the instrument is capable of validating the honesty of an individual and is a powerful tool for use during any investigation process. FPAA Certified Forensic Polygraph Examiners are highly qualified professionals who are inspired - through the maintenance of the highest standards of FPAA professional, moral, and ethical conduct - to assist professional examiners who employ Forensic Psychophysiology (polygraphy)
The FPAA governs the conduct of its members by requiring adherence to a Code of Ethics and a set of Standards and Principles of Practice specifically developed for Australian law, culture and conditions. In order to become an FPAA (Certified Forensic Polygraph Examiner) member, one must adhere to strict guidelines and educational requirements. This includes the bona fide successful completion of hundreds of hours of coursework at an accredited polygraph school, academy or institution.
FPAA members are required to maintain 'Continued Professional Development' (CPD) as a membership requirement. The CPD is set at a particularly high onerous level for all Certified Forensic Polygraph Examiners. When seeking the services of a Polygraph Examiner one should look or ask for:
